I’m a King Without a Kingdom or Castle…
…. but the only thing I want to rule over is YOUR heart.
Greetings, humans! I’m Henry, king of cuddles and conqueror of hearts. I’m an approximately 9-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix, reigning at a dignified 51 lbs.
When I grant you an audience at my court, I’ll graciously and politely initiate our rendezvous with a soft bark and some distinguished grunting.
You’ll be immediately captivated by my dashing, handsome face, my artfully floppy ears, my wiggly royal rump, and my bright, intelligent eyes—windows into my loyal and loving soul.
Once proper introductions are made, I expect gentle strokes upon my back, respectful head scratches, and the occasional (or steady) offering of treats, which I will accept from your hands with utmost grace.
Those who honor these decrees shall be rewarded with majestic, enthusiastic kisses and cuddles, and a climb onto your lap for a proper royal inspection.
Should a fellow distinguished canine enter the neighboring yard for an interlude, I shall not hesitate to extend my royal greetings through the fence - in hopes of forming new alliances and spreading goodwill throughout the realm.
While many of my noble canine companions delight in trifles such as squeaky toys or rolling balls, I am a king of a higher calling. My heart and attentions are reserved for the giving and receiving of love, affection, and loyal companionship. I do, however, graciously enjoy short strolls and royal sniffaris, where I may survey my empire at a leisurely pace and indulge in the scents of the realm.
Though I may have no kingdom or castle, I remain ever hopeful. For somewhere beyond these walls is a home where my throne is your couch, my crown is your gentle hand upon my head, and my only duty is loving you unconditionally.
Grant me my one true forever court, and I shall devote my golden years to ruling your heart with kindness, loyalty, and endless affection. If you are seeking a gentle soul with whom to share your castle, I, King Henry, eagerly await my happily-ever-after with YOU!
If you're interested in Henry, you can submit an application by clicking the "Apply For Adoption box " located below his photos on the right side.

Please browse our adoptable animals. We make every effort to keep our listings updated.
Each of our animals has contact information in the description - either referencing the phone number of the foster volunteer who is fostering the animal or East County Animal Shelter contact information if a shelter animal.
If you have questions, please use the contact information in the description directly. We attempt to forward emails sent to contact@tvar.org to the foster though it is not necessarily before the animal is adopted. Also, volunteers who monitor this email do not know the animals whereas the fosters do!
If a dog or puppy is in foster with TVAR, please fill out an adoption application (available here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TVAR/Dog). We consider each application and pick the best one for the animal in question. In general, we do not do out of area adoptions. Kittens do not need applications completed - just contact the foster!
If an animal is at ECAS, they have their own adoption process. Please go to ECAS (they are open daily 11:30am to 5:30pm except holidays) to meet the animal and learn about ECAS's adoption process.
All TVAR animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, treated for worms and fleas, and microchipped. Felines are FIV/FeLV tested. Many of our pets also come with a "packed bag" that can include a variety of goodies like bedding, food, toys, leashes, and even private training sessions with our professional trainers. Adoption fees vary by species. Our fee range is $120-$350. The foster volunteer can provide specifics for the animals in their care.

More about this rescue
Tri-Valley Animal Rescue (TVAR) was founded in 1992 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area). We primarily place shelter animals in foster care of TVAR volunteers while trying to find them permanent homes. Although we do not have a facility of our own, we help over 1000 animals find forever homes yearly through the hard work and dedication of our East County Animal Shelter shelter volunteers who socialize shelter animals daily and assist the public in selecting a pet to adopt.
We have a variety of volunteer programs including a shelter program and four foster programs. We are always looking for more volunteers - especially fosters. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please check out our volunteer page (https://www.tvar.org/volunteer/) for information.
