Meet This Sweet Little Guy!

Age: 5 months
Size: Small (still growing!)
Personality: Shy at first, super loving once he feels safe

This adorable young pup may take a moment to warm up, but once he does, he turns into the ultimate cuddle bug. When he’s comfortable, he loves being close, soaking up affection, and curling up for snuggles.

He’s a friendly, easygoing boy who gets along great with other dogs, cats, and kids, making him a wonderful fit for many types of homes. His gentle nature and loving heart will shine brightest with a patient family willing to give him a little time to build trust.

Chopper's mom was a Beagle mix. Our best guess, Chopper appears to be a mix of Dachshund, Chihuahua and Terrier.

Here’s what we're seeing:

Large upright ears & expressive face → very Chihuahua-like
Short legs and slightly long body → could hint at Dachshund influence (often called a Chiweenie)
Smooth tan coat & athletic build → possibly mixed with a small terrier

Either way, Chopper is 100% good dog that would make anyone's heart melt.

Their adoption process

1.
Meet the Pet

Once the potential adopter has found a pet they are interested in, they can visit the rescue in person and meet the cat or dog.

2.
Submit Application

Please note: Applicants should be age 21 or older. Fill out adoption application and submit for consideration.

3.
Approve Application

The application is then approved or rejected by the administration of our rescue.

4.
Pay Fee

At this point, the adopter pays the adoption fee for the cat or dog.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

We approve or deny adoptions based on various factors, such as a fenced yard for dogs, how many other pets a protentional adopter may have.

Each animal is different; our goal is to place the dog or cat with the most suitable home for their needs and safety.

We also prefer adopting to applicants aged 21 or older.

We are located in Lakeland, Florida. Our animals are available to be viewed online on our Facebook page, on websites such as, Adoptapet.com, Petfinder.com and Rescueme.org, or in person by appointment. We also do various adoption events at the Lakeland PetSmart, as well as other events around Polk County and surrounding areas.

If you need to contact us, preferred method is text at 863-258-8512 or instant message via our Facebook page. if you do call and we don't answer, please text or leave a voice mail. We may be busy with another adopter or taking care of the shelter animals.
