My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jackaroo is a 3-year-old Shih Tzu weighing 14 pounds. He came to Camo Rescue alongside two other Shih Tzus after his original family was unfortunately deported. Through all the change, Jackaroo has shown just how resilient he is—he’s adjusted beautifully to rescue life and is now ready to find a loving forever home of his own.

Jackaroo is currently working on his potty training and leash training and is doing wonderfully with both. He will continue to thrive with consistency and will benefit from learning and settling into his new family’s routine.

He gets along well with dogs of a similar size but does have a slightly dominant personality. Jackaroo would do best with submissive dogs, as he responds very well to correction and easily leaves other dogs alone when redirected. He could also be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home.

Jackaroo has a fun, playful side and loves spending time with people in the yard. Whether he’s hanging out soaking up attention or running around exploring his surroundings, he enjoys being part of the action.

Jackaroo would do well in a home with children or adults only, and he’s ready to bring joy, companionship, and plenty of personality to his forever family.

More about this rescue

CAMO Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers life, health, and a forever home. We specialize in dogs that other rescues can’t or won’t take due to fearful nature or medical needs. We primarily rescue ‘euthanasia listed’ animals that are in immediate danger of death. We provide shots, spay/neuter, microchip, foster homes, food, medical treatment and love to dogs that are abandoned, unwanted or otherwise in need. We never euthanize an animal to make room for another. In addition to caring for our dogs and finding the best possible home for them, we provide education to the community; encouraging and promoting responsible pet ownership. If needed, our rescue dogs are retrained to socialize in an adoptive loving family. We have had phenomenal success, and amazing support from our community. We believe that animals, as living creatures are entitled to a quality life, respect and compassion. Since humans have domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to care for them. We are partnered with many Shelters to help them reach the same goal.
