FOSTER CARE
My name is Nova and I'm so excited to meet you! I'm a 2 year old, spayed female, Border Collie mix who weighs around 36 pounds. Nova is incredibly gentle, polite, and emotionally intuitive. There’s something almost surreal about her presence. She’s affectionate in the sincerest way. When I work, she lies peacefully at my feet. When I relax on the couch, she happily joins me. When I hug her, she melts into my arms and takes every chance to give gentle kisses. Nova loves deeply and expresses it constantly. She’s gentle and friendly with everyone and everyone who meets her falls in love almost instantly. On walks, she’s calm and confident around other dogs, happy to socialize and greet them respectfully—and yes, she has a soft spot for big, handsome male dogs too.
She’s also smart and eager to learn. In just one month, she’s learned to lie down, wait patiently for food, stay, and sit calmly by the door until her collar is removed. She rests quietly in her crate when I’m away and sleeps there peacefully at night. While she’s well-mannered, she’s far from boring—she enjoys playing with toys, inventing little games, and going out for long walks.

Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by emailing behavior@phs-spca.org
You may also submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. You must be 18 or older to submit a profile.
Application: https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf
*The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads. Please call (650) 340-7022 for assistance.
Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.
You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays).
We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around!
To check on an animal's adoption status, please call 650-340-7022 during normal business hours to speak with an adoption counselor. Emails will be returned as soon as possible, but please allow up to 48 hours during busy adoption periods like weekends.
