My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Turkey is a 12-year-old Shih Tzu mix who has already endured more than any dog ever should. He was found alone in an abandoned home, without power, left to fend for himself for weeks. When Turkey arrived in rescue, he was heartbreakingly thin, severely matted, and in very poor condition.

After spending a month in foster care, he is thriving — Turkey has been given a second chance at life. He is steadily gaining weight, his fur is growing back, and his gentle spirit is shining through more every day. Despite everything he’s been through, he is a happy, sweet boy who clearly still believes in people.

Turkey is hard of hearing, but it doesn’t slow him down — he gets around just fine and adapts well to his surroundings. He’s doing wonderfully with both dogs and cats in his foster home and would love a calm, loving environment where he can enjoy his golden years in comfort.

He doesn’t ask for much — just a soft place to land, kind humans to love, and the chance to finally feel safe and cherished. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a resilient spirit and endless gratitude, Turkey may be your perfect match.
If you’d like to meet him, please fill out an application and we will schedule a meet and greet!
