My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please message Fritters foster parent at her email
prizm456@yahoo.com if you want to schedule a meet and greet!
Fritter is a very sweet kitty who loves attention and lap time; cuddling with someone she trusts is her favorite thing to do. She is a purring machine and champion biscuit maker! She has amazingly soft medium-length fur and a wonderful fluffy tail. She loves playing with toys (springs are her favorite) and is often active at night playing by herself. In new situations she lacks confidence and can be very shy and nervous, but once you gain her trust she will be your best friend and want to be near you most of the time. Her dream is to live somewhere quiet with a person or people who are home a lot to keep her company. She has a great personality and a lot of love to share, and will be a wonderful companion for the right household. She can be chatty at times, especially if she wants attention. It is unknown how she would do with other animals in the home; in foster her reaction to hearing other cats meowing was mixed.

Important for potential adopters to know:
It will take a couple of weeks for Fritter to get used to her forever home. In the beginning she will be very scared and want to hide. It is recommended that she be confined to a bathroom or bedroom at first where she has some places to hide, including her carrier. Give her lots of time by herself to explore at her own pace and get used to the new environment. If she is in a room with a bed she will hide under it and you probably won’t see her again for days or weeks.

Fritter is easily frightened so she will do best in a quiet stable home. She would love to have someone who is home a lot, perhaps a retired person or couple. She LOVES getting attention (once she trusts you) and petting and snuggles are her favorite things. She loves to play but may not play with people at first, only by herself. This is because when she is with people she would rather be petted and sit in a lap than play.

She will be very scared anytime she has to leave the house to go to the vet. You can practice having her in the carrier with the door shut and being moved, even put in the car, to get her more comfortable with it. She loves Churu squeezy treats so that is a way to reward her for being brave and help make the scary experience more positive.

Regarding other animals in the home, I believe that Fritter will be submissive to another cat so could be bullied by a more dominant cat. Since she is easily scared a dog might be very frightening for her. Any introduction to another animal should be done slowly and carefully over time, with supervision, and following best practices for a smooth transition.

I highly recommend she be indoor-only. Even if she got familiar with being outside, if she was startled she would run and hide and be very difficult to pick up (she would run again) to get her back inside.
In foster she primarily ate Hills Science Diet kibble. She also liked all the wet food she was offered.
