Meet Scout: The Goofball Who Will Steal Your Heart

This approximately 18 month old black and white boy with a great smile is an absolute goofball in the best possible way. Scout is sweet, silly, and so full of love that he simply cannot contain it. He'll follow you from room to room, wait patiently outside the bathroom door, and greet you with that infectious enthusiasm that makes you feel like the most important person in the world. When he sleeps, he's so relaxed he sprawls out on his side, completely at ease in his home.

Scout is house trained and excellent about alerting you when he needs to go outside. He's great at holding it and understands his boundaries. While he's not a fan of his crate, he doesn't need one. He knows not to play with human things, counter surf, or raid the trash. When left home alone for hours, he'll contentedly lie on the couch or by the door, missing you greatly but behaving beautifully while he waits for your return.
This boy LOVES his toys. He doesn't shred them but instead squeaks, shakes, and plays fetch with pure joy. Throw a toy across the house and watch him zoom off to retrieve it. Take him outside and he'll find himself a stick, then entertain himself with self directed fetch sessions, racing back and forth with his prize.

Scout absolutely thrives with a dog buddy in the house. He wants to play all the time and also loves meeting other dogs on walks. While he can be a little hesitant around new people at first, patience and kindness work wonders. Show him you're loving and he'll warm up quickly, soon rolling over to ask for belly scratches.

Scout needs a home that appreciates his playful spirit, ideally with another dog to be his constant playmate. He's always down for a walk to explore the outdoors, a game of fetch, or simply getting pets from his favorite people. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who will follow you everywhere and fill your days with laughter, Scout is ready to be your shadow and your best friend.

MEET AND GREETS

We primarily rely on meet & greets for potential adopters. Approved adopters may meet adoptable animals at the home of the animal's foster, or possibly in the adopter's own home.

More about this rescue

Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. rescues dogs of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters reducing the numbers being euthanized daily. We provide foster homes where they can get the love and attention needed before finding their forever homes. Our organization provides pet adoption services in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, and parts of Southern Pennsylvania. Operation Paws for Homes, a 501(c)(3) organization, is 100% donor funded and could not save these dogs and fulfill their dreams of being united with their forever families, without the dedication of our incredible adopters, fosters, donors and volunteers. Sadly, without our help, all of these adoptable animals would face almost certain euthanasia - usually within days or hours of arriving at the shelter. Each year we take in hundreds of wonderful animals who were left at shelters by no fault of their own.
