— Male
— 3 years old
— 55 pounds
— Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped
— Heartworm negative & on prevention
— In foster with other medium dogs
— Did well with cats at the vet
— Doing great w/ potty training; knows doggy door
— Shy at first, goofy, playful, fun loving boy
PERSONALITY: Max is shy and timid at first — but once warmed up he is a goofy, playful, fun loving boy. He enjoys doing zoomies and lounging on the couch with humans. Energy level 3/5. Cuddle level 4/5.
DOGS: Currently in foster with multiple medium sized dogs. Max integrated in beautifully with them all after slow intros. He enjoys playing with other playful dogs once they are buds.
CATS: He has not fully lived with cats to our knowledge, but the vet reported he was cat friendly while boarding with them. He was out freely with the clinic’s cats daily for about a week and had zero problems with them.
HISTORY: We rescued Max after he was found hit by a car in October and brought into a vet critical by animal control. Heartbreakingly, it was discovered that Max had also been on his own for quite some time. X-rays revealed pellets embedded in him from being shot with a bird/buck shot at some point, and he also came in tote with a tick borne disease and parasites. Max defied the odds though and made a full recovery!
LOCATION: Currently in foster in Jackson, GA. We do a home check with all fosters/adopters, so no need to travel, we will come to you within 2 hours.
AVAILABILITY: Available for adoption or foster-to-adopt (FTA). FTA is a 2 week commitment-free trial run to make sure things are a fit before sealing the deal and officially adopting.
ADOPTION FEE: $150

Joy’s Promise is a promise to keep fighting for those like Joy. The discarded, unwanted, abused and neglected. It won’t always look like Joy, a pregnant mama facing euthanasia. It might be a pittie sitting animal control for months, years unwanted. It might be a boxer mix from a terrible hoarding case. It might be an owner surrender that lost everything they have ever known. It might be a box of puppies who were tossed without the slightest remorse. Joy’s Promise is a promise for Joy’s death to not be in vain, but a catalyst for more lives saved.
Joy’s Promise Canine Rescue is a registered nonprofit corporation and an actively licensed GDA animal shelter. We are a foster-based organization in the process of filing 501c3 paperwork.
