Jack is a handsome Australian Cattle Dog (also known as a Blue Heeler). He loves attention and is incredibly smart for a 1-year-old pup so a home that can provide enrichment and socialization for this breed is important. Jack is about 40lbs, but looks smaller and he has a gorgeous merle coat. He is well mannered at the shelter and goes potty outside on his walks. Volunteers enjoy walking him and he shows off his knowledge of basic commands like sit. Jack does well with most dogs after he is properly introduced to them. He is a happy pup that would do well with many types of families including those with kids. Jack is vaccinated, microchipped and will be neutered soon before going home. 1.
Submit Application

Visit www.abandonedpetrescue.org to see adoptable cats and dogs. Fill out an application for the pet(s) you would like to meet and adopt.

2.
Meet the Pet

Once you have filled out an application, a team member will contact you to schedule an appointment to visit APR.

3.
Approve Application

APR does not do same day adoptions and takes multiple applications on each pet to best match pets and families. APR may do home checks.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

If approved, you will sign a contract and pay the adoption fee. All pets are up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped.

5.
Take the Pet Home

APR hopes you stay in touch by joining APR's Facebook Alumni Page. Adopters can reach out to APR at any time with questions or concerns.

Additional adoption info

You must be 21 years old to adopt and have never been convicted on animal cruelty or neglect.

Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida with the mission of rescuing and sheltering abandoned and abused cats and dogs with the goal of finding them new homes. APR's adoption center has about 150 cats and 30 dogs, all of which receive nutritious meals, veterinary care, enrichment and love.

APR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers who were trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats and quickly realized the greater need to help abandoned pets and advocate for a no-kill community. APR is funded solely by generous donors and grants.
