My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blaze ACCT-A-240115 is a sweet, sensitive boy who may be a little fearful when first meeting new people, but he just needs a moment to feel safe. Once he spots a toy, his walls come down and his playful, loose, wiggly personality shines through. Blaze is affectionate, gentle, and eager to connect once he’s comfortable, showing just how loving he can be. He would do best with a patient adopter who will let him warm up at his own pace and help build his confidence. Blaze is available for adoption and ready to find a forever home where he can feel secure, loved, and happy.

Eligible for adoption and rescue. Meet Blaze at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m

Behavior notes:
Per volunteer 1/4/2026: BLaze is a sweet affectionate boy with a beautiful shiny black coat. It was his first time in the play yard so he explored for a bit, then got zoomies. Loved to chase ball and stuffy. Got a bit jumpy and mouthy with handler but was able to redirect. Knows sit and Takes treats nicely. Allowed all over handling and leaned in for pets. Easy in and out through kennel. A sweet young boy!

Per volunteer 12/30/2025: Kennel presentation: loose at the front of his kennel. Soft eyes, ears pinned back, low wagging tail. When leashing he tucked his head a bit but allowed the leash to go over his head. Then slowly jumped out of his kennel.

Leash skills: pulls minimally on leash. Nervous walking through kennels. Outside he got the zoomies on leash and began to slightly leash bite only lasting about 5 seconds and then didn’t leash bite further.

Sociability: In the room, he was initially fearful, engaging in environmental sniffing and maintaining distance from the handler. Upon introduction of a toy, his body language became looser and more social. He tolerated all handling. He did display some signs of stress , including lip licking and ears pinned back and a bit of stress panting. He accepted treats gently from the hand and demonstrated knowledge of sit.

Toys and play: He engaged with both toys and play, taking possession of toys and displaying a loose, wiggly body with periods of zooming around the room. He participated appropriately in play, though he did become somewhat jumpy during higher arousal moments.

Returning to kennel: no issues returning to kennel.

Dog interactions: n/a

Recommendations and Considerations: making blue due to leash biting initially and due to fearfulness. If behavior continues to improve he can be experienced gold. Bring treats with you and a toy incase he begins to leash bite.
