My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucy Is a red headed  tri Pembroke  Corg i  found  as a stray in  Fort Collin s.  Lucy is 3-5 y/o,  30  lbs,  and spayed, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-.

Lucy recently saw a local vet due to leaking urine. She ha d  a severe urinary tract infection which  was treated with  antibiotics  but she is still leaking very little urine. She is now on Proin and DES which helps her  and she will likely need to be on this medication for the rest of her life.

Lucy is  potty trained, leash trained, uses a dog door,   crate trained,  and rides well in the car Lucy has a dominant type of personality  and likes to be in charge of other dogs.   She is easily excitable which can also be a trigger for her reactivity. She respects large dogs but may challenge smaller dogs or like minded dogs.   She does well with dogs that won’t challenge her. She has done well at on leash encounters with neutral dogs.   Lucy would  benefit from   a basic manners class .  She knows how to sit and stay for a short time.  Lucy does not have a reliable recall and  cannot  be trusted off leash.   Lucy doesn’t like typical dog treats but she does like  cooked  chicken or beef as   treats. She is fed separately from her foster siblings and slowly eats her kibble  taking about 5-10min.

Lucy  is shy a nd insecure  with new things It takes her  awhile  to interact  so her new owner needs to give her time and be patient Lucy  approaches  men quicker than  women but is generally insecure when meeting others.  She is a quick  learner but will  tend   to choose  avoidance so needs to gain some confidence in social settings Lucy   is good with cats and livestock. She does like to chase chickens but will stop when told.

Lucy will be very loyal to that special person or family. Lucy is very friendly  and likes to cuddle . She would prefer a home with a mellower dog or no other dogs and would do well with  an  older person  or  family  with o lder  children. Lucy likes to be near her people and is a lap puppy so someone home during the day would be ideal. She prefers to sleep on  a couch or on the foot of the bed.  Lucy is a very sensitive  gal and  requires a gentle touch. If you’re interested in meeting Lucy the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at  https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home. Lucy’s adoption fee is $425 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.

More about this rescue

CO Corgis and Friends is a 501 c3 dog Rescue (specializing in Corgis and other lowrider breeds) that was formed in late 2019 by a group of Corgi loving people who not only love and understand the Corgi breed, but love all other dogs as well. The founding members have over 100+ years of experience owning Corgis and 50+ years in Rescue. It is our pleasure to help homeless dogs in need, help struggling owners rehome their pets, and offer advice on training issues typical of this herding breed. Please feel free to contact us to see if we can help!
Our mission is to help find Corgis and other breeds loving forever homes, share our knowledge of the Corgi breed through outreach and education, help reduce the pet population by promoting spay/neuter, and educating the community about responsible pet care and relationships.
