My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WIDE LOAD ALERT: I’m Doohmer
Hi. I’m Doohmer. I’m 5 years old and shaped like a brick wrapped in velvet. I came to Freedom Frenchie Rescue from Riverside County with a girl named Darla. Fun fact about my origin story: someone dropped us off a block away from the shelter. The only reason we were found is because a shelter employee was leaving, heard us crying, followed the sound, and called it in. Timing saved our lives. I prefer not to dwell on that part — I prefer snacks and naps.
About Me & Darla
Everyone thought Darla and I were bonded. Turns out… nah. We were separated to test it, and she is absolutely thriving and living her best life. Me? Same. I could not care less. No hard feelings. I’m very comfortable doing my own thing and vibing independently.
My Medical Glow-Up
When I came in, my eyes were a mess. I had entropion, which means extra skin was rolling inward and causing infections and making it really hard for me to see. I had surgery to fix it, and wow — it’s so nice to finally see the world clearly. I might need a touch-up someday, but right now I’m thriving and there’s no need to go back in. I feel good. I look good. I see snacks now.
Potty Training? Nailed It.
Let me brag for a second. Since moving into my foster home, I have had zero accidents after the first day. None. I now whine at the door when I need to go out. Do I always pick the correct door? No. But any door + a whine = I tried, and that counts. My bark-cry is loud, loving, and very effective for getting attention.
My Personality (Slow But Powerful)
I live by one rule: why rush? Unless snacks are involved — then I move with intention. I love everyone. Dogs, cats, pigs, horses, humans… if you have a pulse (or hooves), I’m a fan. I’m social, affectionate, and happiest just being near my people — preferably on a soft surface where I can fully sprawl and contemplate my next meal.
Important Kid Disclaimer
I am not recommended for small children. Not because I’m scary — because I am approximately one ton of enthusiasm and mass. I mean well. Physics does not. Older kids and adults who understand wide-load energy are a better fit for me.
Foster Mom Pupdate
I recently went to a horse show and absolutely crushed it. I wasn’t intimidated at all. I met tons of new people and dogs, soaked up all the attention, and may have assisted myself to part of a grilled cheese. Zero regrets.
Why You’ll Love Me
If you’re looking for a slow-moving, snack-motivated companion with a huge heart and an even bigger head, I’m your guy. I’m affectionate, social, housetrained, and deeply committed to comfort.
Adopt me. Bring snacks. Lower expectations for speed.
I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, my adoption donation fee is $1100.00. You can apply for @freedomfrenchierescue.org and I am currently being fostered in North Phoenix, AZ
