Chompy is a spunky, energetic, 6-month-old girl looking for her forever home!
This stripey gal loves to run and play and cause all the chaos that she can. When she isn't napping on a soft blanket, she is playing with whatever she can find! She doesn't enjoy sitting still for long, and will tolerate being held…but only on her terms!
Chompy is extremely high energy and races around the house, the couches, and cat trees.
She currently lives with 2 foster parents, 4 other cats, and 2 dogs in the country. She loves to look outside when the door opens and smell the fresh air.
An ideal home would have at least one other cat or dog that she could play with, a large space to work out all her zoomies, and humans who are around a lot and excited to play with her. She will also need to be with forever people who understand that although she is sweet and friendly, this independent lady has her boundaries and prefers to make the decisions about when she feels like cuddling.
When she is feeling affectionate, she will lie down beside you or on your lap. When you pet her, Chompy views it as a precursor to playtime, and can sometimes get a bit over-excited and play-bite (hence her name). She will need a loving, patient person who can help gently redirect her and help her channel her playtime energy in other ways.
Because she is still learning, Chompy would do best in a home with just adults or with older kids/teens, rather than one with young children. She gets along well with other dogs and cats, and is guaranteed to bring lots of high-energy entertainment to her forever family. Could that be with you?

All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow-up visits.

Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
