Lucien and JJ are a bonded pair with big personalities and an even bigger bond! They balance each other perfectly, with Lucien bringing the zoomies and silliness and JJ providing the mellow, thoughtful lap-cat energy—very much an Odie-and-Garfield duo.
Lucien is the younger, more playful half of the pair. He loves running, wrestling, and even playing fetch with his favorite purple-and-gold toy. When he’s not on the move, he’s happiest snuggled under the covers right next to his human, purring louder the longer the cuddles last. JJ prefers a slower pace and is a devoted lap cat once trust is built. His favorite toys are usually found objects like ponytail holders, and his favorite place is foster mom’s chair or lap the moment it’s available. He communicates his boundaries clearly and does best with people who respect his cues, rewarding them with head butts, biscuits, and cuddles.
They do well home alone during the workday, enjoy window watching, and spend evenings relaxing with their human. Both have playful bursts of energy, usually followed by synchronized naps—unless Lucien wakes up first and decides it’s time to pounce on JJ, who quickly joins in.
Lucien and JJ would thrive in an adults-only, dog-free home with patient, cat-savvy humans. In return, they offer plenty of affection, entertainment, and loyal companionship!

All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow-up visits.

Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
