Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cookie Monster and Smokey Joe are two mature, bonded cats looking for their forever home!
Smokey Joe is a stoic, gentle giant! He loves grooming himself in the sun after his morning patrol. He is definitely food-motivated and is not afraid to remind you when it’s time for a snack. Although he is normally slow-paced, he hustles at the sound of food and treats!
He and his foster sister play “chase” around the house, and he is also a sucker for string toys. At night, he splits his time between sleeping at the foot of his foster mom’s bed and curling up on the couch while listening to calming music. He loves affection, getting brushed, and laying on his foster mom’s chest for morning and evening cuddles. He has a calming and resilient presence. He and his sister came from a neglect situation, so he thrives with his newly found attention and affection.
Cookie Monster takes a little more time warming up, but once she does, she becomes a constant companion! She sleeps right next to her foster mom at night and seeks out attention and affection. She enjoys swatting at hanging toys and pouncing on little catnip mice. She has also decided she’s obsessed with her tunnel toys, chasing in and out of them.
She and her brother enjoy a good game of “chase.” She maintains her figure with morning and evening sprints, which allow her to lounge for the remainder of the day—keeping watch over neighborhood wildlife and supervising house business from atop her cat tree. She is a purring ball of beautiful fluff! Like her brother, she came from a neglect situation and thrives with her newly found attention and affection. Oh! She also enjoys a good game of hide-and-seek with her foster mom.
These two are such lovely kitties and are ready to make the most of their golden years. Both Cookie Monster and Smokey Joe deserve to thrive together in a calm, loving home with lots of attention! Could that be with you?
Interested in adopting or learning more about this cat? Please fill out Pet Haven’s adoption application: http://bit.ly/2fd9U2Fpethavenmnwww..org/adopt.
All ages and breeds are a best estimate. Adoption fees include a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%.
All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow-up visits.

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
