Meet Steven and Van, a dynamic duo who balance each other perfectly!
Steven is our shy, short-tailed cutie with the adorable turkey-butt strut. He likes to take his time getting to know new people, but once he trusts you, he melts into pets and playtime. His true comfort comes from cat companions—he learns how to “cat” by watching his friends, especially Van.
Steven loves laser chasing, zoomies, and curling up with his buddy for cozy naps. Because of his special-shaped bum, Steven sometimes has a hard time cleaning up after using the bathroom, but a little grooming keeps him clean. His forever people should be okay with helping him tidy up in that area every so often.
Van, on the other hand, is the definition of a Velcro cat. This stunning gray boy believes personal space is a myth. Head bumps, squeaky chatter, and constant cuddles are his love language. If you stop petting too soon, he’ll gently tap your face like, “Hey… don’t forget me.” He may get occasional sneezing fits, but they don’t slow down his mission to be the center of affection.
These two are seeking a home where they can continue to grow together—one playful, curious learner and one loyal, snuggly attention-seeker. Adopt Steven & Van, and you get double the charm, double the laughs, and double the love.

All cats have received comprehensive veterinary care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV unless otherwise stated. Cats are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and have been spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and/or ear mites, de-wormed, and microchipped. Please note there may be additional follow-up visits.

Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
