Take the Pet Home
Opossum was found as an underweight stray with a respiratory infection and brought into a shelter. He's been working on healing, gaining weight, and building his confidence in his Texan foster home. Now he's heading on a big adventure to Minnesota for a fresh start! All the adorableness of a possum into your new best friend. He is just a happy sweet boy that LOVES to snuggle on the couch. Opossum loves being around his people so much that he will cry a little when he is left alone, but will quiet down after a few minutes and wait patiently for your return. He is potty trained and crate trained and loves other dogs, but is also happy being your only faithful companion. He is more comfortable around small dogs, but selectively okay with big dogs - slow introductions are best! He is a little jumpy/skittish with loud noises, but has been diligently working to build his confidence with walks and he is doing really well. Opossum has the cutest ears and his tail is constantly wagging.
Opossum just looks at you with eyes that let you know he is ready to give you all of his love. He is a really good boy that will make any home with happiness!
Opposum is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 1/10 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8am-Noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page.
If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
