My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Petunia: The Resilient Rat Terrier
Petunia is an adorable 8-month-old Rat Terrier who weighs just 7 pounds. Her small size is packed with a big heart and a bright future ahead of her. Despite a challenging start, Petunia is ready to find a loving forever home.
Health and Wellness
Petunia is in excellent health, having received all her vaccines, and she has been spayed. Additionally, she is heartworm negative, which is great news for her long-term health. Petunia is also microchipped, ensuring her safety and easy identification if she ever gets lost.
Background and Personality
Petunia's journey hasn't been the easiest. She was part of a hoarding case confiscation, which has left her a bit shy. However, her past experiences have also made her incredibly resilient and adaptable. This little pup is very smart and quick to learn new things, making her an ideal candidate for training and bonding activities.
Compatibility with Other Pets
One of Petunia's standout qualities is her friendliness towards other animals. She is both dog and cat friendly, which means she could seamlessly integrate into a home with existing pets. Her social nature shines through despite her initial shyness.
Activity Level
Though small, Petunia is quite active. She would thrive in an environment where she has ample opportunity to play and explore. Whether it's a romp in the backyard or a playful interaction with a fellow furry friend, Petunia loves to stay busy and engaged.
A Forever Home
Petunia is searching for a patient and loving home that understands her past and is excited about her future. With a little patience and a lot of love, Petunia is sure to blossom into a confident and happy companion. If you're looking for a small, intelligent, and animal-friendly addition to your family, Petunia might just be the perfect fit for you.

More about this rescue

BMAR is a No-Kill facility: a place of safety for healthy adoptable animals, a home for the homeless, a haven for the mistreated, neglected, or abused animals of Sabine & surrounding counties. BMAR also runs a sanctuary for those deemed unadoptible due to medical and behavior issues.

100% Volunteer Rescue. We have no animal control, Humane Society, or SPCA operating in our area leaving animals in dire straights.

BMAR is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty & abuse to all animals & livestock.

We currently only adopt to states and Canada where we have a network in place to monitor animals and help with problems.

BMAR backs it's dogs for life and will take back no matter how long and at any time if circumstance arise and you cannot keep your pet.
