Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Kitt is a 6 month old, 40 pound German Shepherd with tons of personality and impressive intelligence to match. Shes already mastering her basics and knows commands like sit, shake, lay down and shes eager to keep learning. Kitt walks beautifully on a leash and makes outings a breeze. Shes incredibly dog friendly and gets along well with dogs of all ages, sizes and personalities, making her a great fit for a multi dog home. Kitt is happy to enjoy a good couch rot session and will happily follow her people from room to room. Kitt does great in the car, she is fully house and crate trained and settles in nicely at home. She absolutely adores women and kids and, while she may take a moment to warm up to men, she coexists very well and continues to build confidence with time. Smart, loyal, affectionate, and full of potential Kitt is the kind of pup who will make an incredible lifelong companion! *Kit requires an owner with German Shepherd experience and must be willing to continue Kit's training with a licensed trainer upon adoption.* Adoption fees are $250 unless otherwise stated. Senior dog adoption fees are $200. 100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest. Upon approval, the adoption fee is non-refundable. The fee includes the following: de-worming; heartworm, lymes, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis testing; all vaccinations including rabies; flea and tick treatment, microchipping and spay/neuter. Please contact us if you have questions about our adoptable dogs, we would love to talk to you!

We require an adoption application; we check all references; and upon adoption, we require the adopter to sign an adoption contract which says, among other things, that if the adoption doesn't work out, the dog must come back to Little Big Dog Rescue.

More about this rescue
Little Big Dog Rescue is the little rescue with the big heart.
We are a 501c3 non-profit rescue that is committed to improve and save the lives of dogs through:
Rescue, Rehabilitation, Training, Adoption and Community Education
In January 2025, the rescue underwent a transition, redefining its mission to a different focus and locality. Little Big Dog Rescue relocated to the New River Valley in Christiansburg, Virginia and expanded from predominately a senior dog rescue to helping dogs of all ages in need as our resources allow.
LBDR aims to pull from local kill shelters and assist owner surrenders as space allows in our foster homes. Each dog will be vetted to include spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, deworming, etc. and then spend quality time in a foster home so we may learn more about each dog's personality and needs for their future "furever" home success. We are committed to providing medical rehabilitation as well as some behavioral training whenever possible to further improve the quality of life each dog may have after being adopted. Additionally, LBDR hopes to give back to the community by offering education on various aspects of the privilege of dog ownership, including proper medical care, training needs, breed-specific needs, and so much more.
