Wilma is a young, very sweet puppy with with a perfect mix of confidence and good sense. She’s curious, but also has a natural sense of self-preservation that helps her make thoughtful choices as she explores the world. Wilma eats well, settles easily, and does great in a fenced yard—she hasn’t shown any interest in digging or trying to escape.
Wilma has been raised around chickens, barn cats, and baby goats, and doesn’t appear to have much of a prey drive, if any. One of her favorite things is following her people around, checking in often, and happily flopping over for belly rubs. She absolutely loves affection, kisses, and playful wrestling in the yard.
She rides quietly in the car and doesn’t get carsick, which is a great bonus for future adventures. Wilma was found abandoned at the end of a long dirt road in rural Texas, but she hasn’t let that slow her down—she’s affectionate, resilient, and eager to connect.
Because Wilma has been kept in outdoor kennels, she has no indoor living experience yet and will need a home ready to teach her all the basics of house life, training, and routine. Like all puppies, she’ll benefit from consistent guidance, patience, and positive training. With the right support, she could be a fantastic companion for active people, or an excellent fit for a farm or home with other animals.
Wilma is ready to grow into an incredible dog with a family who will show her the world and give her the love she’s so happy to return.
Wilma is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 01/10/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
