My story

Hi! I’m Herbert — a one-year-old Husky–German Shepherd mix with a big heart and lots of energy. I’m loyal, affectionate, and I love being around my people. I get very excited when I’m with humans and enjoy being part of the action. I’m kid-friendly and cat-friendly, too!

I’m a high-energy guy and get especially enthusiastic when playing with other dogs. Sometimes I play a little rough and may nip during dog-to-dog play — it’s probably my herding instincts kicking in. I’m looking for a patient adopter who understands active, high-energy breeds and is committed to giving me structure, training, and plenty of exercise to help me be my best self.

I’m not the biggest fan of my crate, but I do great in the house and I’m not destructive. I know I’m a lot of work, but I have so much potential. With dedication and consistency, I promise I’ll be an incredibly rewarding companion for the right person.

If your application is chosen and approved we will setup a meet and greet with the pet. You will hear back regardless if chosen or not.

We place the dogs in the best home not the first home. Please be patient while we go over all apps and we will be in touch.

We are foster based. You must apply on Crossyourpaws.com first. If your application is chosen as the best fit for the dog we will move forward with the approval process. Once approved you will be setup with a time to meet the dog. Our dogs are all over the greater Pittsburgh area.

Here at Cross Your Paws Rescue, we are driven by a single goal; to save lives. We are doing our part in making the world a better place for all pets. Our decision to start a rescue is not one that we have taken lightly, it has come after years of volunteer work with other groups. Our goal is to make this world a place where starving, abused animals is a thing of the past. That shelters filled with dogs and cats waiting to be euthanized is unheard of. We want euthanasia to be something to help pets on their way to the Rainbow bridge not to end lives because of overpopulation. We vow to save every life that we can.
