Meet Elliot — A Gentle Soul Looking for Peace and Belonging
Elliot is a Lab mix who will be 7 years old this February. He was adopted as a puppy and spent his life with one loving owner — until recently, when she moved into assisted living and had to surrender him to us. Elliot is grieving. He’s quiet, gentle, and deeply sensitive, and he’s trying to make sense of a world that suddenly feels unfamiliar.
Now in a foster home in Fort Wayne, Elliot is doing his best. He’s living with another dog, but we’ve learned that unfamiliar dogs make him nervous. He grew up with one canine companion, but new dogs overwhelm him. When he’s unsure or uncomfortable, Elliot quietly removes himself — curling up in a corner or retreating to another room. He’s not reactive. He’s just tender-hearted.
Elliot would thrive in a calm, quiet home without other dogs, ideally with a retired adopter who enjoys a slow-paced lifestyle. He does like children, but he can become overwhelmed if they live with him full-time.
He loves going for walks, and he is overweight at around 70lbs, however he’s steadily losing weight on his lowcalorie diet. He’s a truly good boy — calm, wellmannered, and full of gentle affection. What Elliot needs most is stability. A soft place to land. A person who will let him grieve, adjust, and rediscover joy at his own pace. He’s not looking for excitement — he’s looking for home.
If you’re someone who values peace, companionship, and the quiet loyalty of a dog who just wants to be near you, Elliot might be your heart dog. He is looking for a retired adopter who is still active and loves to take Leisurely walks around the neighborhood.
There is no adoption fee; however, we are looking for experienced adopters with a solid veterinary history and references. Please put in an application on our website at www.indianasaveadog.com.
