Vierra is a 13-year-old long-haired cat adopted from Larimer County, Colorado in 2017. I adopted her when she was around 6 years old, and her prior history is unknown.
She prefers minimal handling and likes to be left alone. While she is calm with veterinary staff, she has shown aggression toward me, my husband, and previous roommates, including biting and scratching that has broken skin. I have tried my hardest over the years to understand her triggers and make the home environment work for her.
Over the past two years, she has also used the litter box inconsistently. Vierra would need to be the only pet in a quiet home with someone who is willing to work at her pace and respect her boundaries. This has been an extremely difficult decision, but I believe she may do better in a different environment that better matches her needs.
