Gingerbread is not only as sweet as the treat itself, but he's also a treat! After meeting this guy, it wouldn't be hard to believe that this guy just WALKED up to humans to introduce himself! Unfortunately for him, the human's pet dog wasn't in a friendly mood and chased him away. Thankfully, they were able to trap and fix the poor cat, and now he is here hoping to find a family he can spoil!
Gingerbread doesn't seem to care who he befriends. He's getting to like his foster family's pet border collie, though they don't seem to return the same interest. Besides dogs, he's been trying to acquaint himself with the family's kitty. He will chase her playfully, much to her chagrin. We think he would do well with a young cat who enjoys playtime as much as he does! Though, he's content being an only kitty as well.
If you wanted to show off your love for him, he would happily accept it! He loves to be carried around, receive belly rubs, and picked up! Spending time with him is how he wants to get to know you. So, if you want to play together, prepare yourself! This fella loves his toys and attention like children to their candy. He constantly purrs at the slightest touch, and he will roll around for his belly rubs! He's a gentle player, refusing to scratch or bite even if it's playful. He's a huge fan of the laser pointer, so if you want to dazzle him, have one on hand! He likes to keep an eye on you, so don't be surprised if he follows you to the bathroom! He's a great giver of perfect head boops and a great receiver of toe bean rubs! He might even join you in bed when it's time for night-nights!
While his personality is fantastic, there is one thing he is known for: his intelligence! They say that orange cats don't have a brain cell to share between them, but Gingerbread has broken from the mold! His foster has been training him to respect counter boundaries, and he's actually learning some handy training techniques! He's notable for knowing tricks too! He has learned how to sit for a treat and eat out of his trainer's hand. He's currently learning how to "give paw" and does very well! They believe he might even be able to learn the command "lie down" given enough time and patience! So, not only would you be adopting a loving, silly orange cat, but you'd be adopting probably one of the most intelligent orange cats in the state!
Gingerbread's adoption donation is $115 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and neuter.
