Washington is a shy, sensitive dog who is looking for a calm, understanding home where he can feel safe and learn to trust at his own pace. He will do best as the only pet in the home, with no cats or other dogs, and with kids aged 14 and up who can respect his boundaries. Washington's ideal adopters will be patient, kind, and committed to using positive reinforcement to help him build confidence. With time, consistency, and compassion, Washington has the potential to form a deep and rewarding bond with his person..

Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County.
