Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I’m Doris — a strong, independent lady with a whole lot of cattitude and just a sprinkle of hidden sweetness… if you know where to look. I’m about 3 years old, a stunning tabby-and-white beauty.
I recently came to Homeward after my previous owner could no longer care for me. My journey began with the caring folks at Journey Home, but when it became clear I had a bit of a spicy streak, they reached out to Homeward — a place that knows how to handle a gal with a little extra sass.
Let’s be real: I’m not your typical lap cat. I want love… but not smothering. I crave companionship… but also solitude. I like affection… but only on my terms. Basically, I’m a complex girl with a heart that’s worth the effort. Once I trust you and know you respect my space, I’ll let you into my little world… it’s a beautiful one, I promise.
I’m looking for an experienced cat person who can read the room (and my moods) and give me the freedom to be myself. I know my perfect person is out there… someone who doesn’t need constant cuddles to feel loved and will give me some time to feel comfortable, but can appreciate the quiet bond of mutual respect. Could that be you?
If you're up for the challenge (and the reward), I’m here… waiting for someone who sees past the tough exterior and believes in the sweet soul underneath.
With purrs, poise, and plenty of sass,
Her Ladyship, Doris of Sass-shire

More about this shelter
We are a small shelter that rescues pets from local impounds whose time is up, and would otherwise be euthanized. We only have 9 dog kennels and 26 cat kennels; as many of 80% of the animals in our care are located in foster homes throughout the community at any time. We are very limited on space within our shelter and often, we can't take in owner surrenders, but will do our best to help give guidance about rehoming pets.
We offer several services besides adoption, including microchip clinics and pet-friendly rental housing listings.
We are the only shelter in the FM area that rescues both cats and dogs, so without our help, hundreds of dogs and cats would be euthanized each year in local pounds.
