My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there, I'm Ireland!

I’ve been searching for my forever home for a while now, and I just know my perfect family is out there. Could it be you?

Let me tell you a little about myself — I’m a big, cuddly goofball with a heart full of love! My size might make you think I belong on the floor, but nope — I’m a total lap dog. If there’s a cozy spot next to you, I’ll find it! I love to snuggle, give affection, and take long naps after a good play session.

I’m a champion at fetch (seriously, I never get tired of it), and I have a special place in my heart for squeaky toys — they’re the best! I also love car rides and hiking, so if you’re the outdoorsy type, we’ll get along great.

I have a moderate energy level, which means I’m up for adventures but also love lounging around. I’m crate trained and housetrained, so I already know the house rules. I get along great with other dogs. I should go to a home without cats.

One of my best qualities? I’m amazing with older kids! My big size makes me a sturdy companion for playful kiddos, and my goofy, affectionate nature means I’ll always be by their side.

If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving, and snuggly best friend, I just might be your perfect match. I’ve been waiting a while for my forever home — maybe it’s with you?

Love, Ireland

Go meet their pets

Our shelter is in north Fargo, near the old Yunker's Children's Museum, located just off of University Dr. on 28th Ave. N. We have open house hours from 4-7pm Tuesday-Friday, and 2-6pm on Saturdays. We have adoption events throughout the year, and you can find more information about those on our website at www.homewardonline.org or our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/HomewardAnimalShelter.

More about this shelter

We are a small shelter that rescues pets from local impounds whose time is up, and would otherwise be euthanized. We only have 9 dog kennels and 26 cat kennels; as many of 80% of the animals in our care are located in foster homes throughout the community at any time. We are very limited on space within our shelter and often, we can't take in owner surrenders, but will do our best to help give guidance about rehoming pets.

We offer several services besides adoption, including microchip clinics and pet-friendly rental housing listings.

We are the only shelter in the FM area that rescues both cats and dogs, so without our help, hundreds of dogs and cats would be euthanized each year in local pounds.
