Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from King of Prussia, Pennsylvania for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit.
Meet Kobe, a tiny dog with a big heart who’s ready to find his forever home. At around 7 years old and just 4–5 pounds, Kobe is a small-breed mix (possibly Maltipoo) with a gentle, soulful personality that wins people over quickly.
Kobe is fully housebroken, walks nicely on a leash, and is a very quiet companion who rarely barks. He enjoys affection but isn’t a Velcro dog—he’s happiest lounging in his cozy bed with a soft blanket, then popping over for belly rubs or a cuddle when the mood strikes. One of his favorite things is going for neighborhood walks, and he gets adorably excited the moment he sees his leash.
He does well with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a calm canine companion. While he lived with a child in the past, Kobe would be best suited for a calmer household without a lot of chaos or young kids. He can be left alone for about 4–5 hours at a time, but would thrive in a home where someone is around more often, such as a retired adopter or someone who works from home.
Kobe has some sensitivities when it comes to wearing a harness or dog clothing, and he prefers comfort over fashion. Grooming may take patience as he continues to build trust, though he allows handling and bathing without issue. He can manage a few stairs, sleeps happily in a dog bed, and does not require a fenced yard as long as he gets regular leashed walks.
He is neutered, has had a dental, and does not require any ongoing medications or a prescription diet, though his foster suspects he may have a chicken sensitivity. Kobe came to rescue through ACCT Philly due to a change in his owner’s living situation. At the shelter, he immediately jumped into his foster’s arms and sealed the moment with tiny kisses—a perfect glimpse into just how loving he is.
If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key companion who enjoys walks, cozy naps, and quiet affection, Kobe may be the perfect match for you.

The goal of Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is to find the best home possible for our senior dogs. To assist us in this endeavor, SDH&H requires a fully completed application, references, and a visit to your home by one of our trained volunteers. For this reason we only process applications within a reasonable commute from the dog's foster home.
Our adoption fee is $200, however we offer a discounted rate of $150 for senior adopters over the age of 65.

More about this rescue
We are a small, dedicated group of fosters and volunteers. We strive to improve the lives of senior dogs who find themselves without a family to care for them anymore. We do not have a facility. Our dogs live in our homes as members of our families. We provide care, comfort, companionship and, most of all, unconditional love. We have worked in senior rescue for years, and see the continuing and growing need to get them out of shelters where they are often euthanized because of their age and/or medical reasons, or from owners that find themselves in crisis and no longer able to care for their companions (nursing home, illness, abusive situations, etc).
Senior Dog Haven and Hospice is a registered 501(c)3. All donations to our rescue are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
