My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Autumn is a 5-year-old, 75-pound gray female Weimaraner who came into rescue in August.  She is a cuddler and eager to please.  She listens well and follows commands easily when on leash, but could continue to reinforce a sit/stay before going on a walk to lessen the excitement before opening the door. She is house trained and crate trained, and would likely be ok left out for periods of time as well.

She would do best in a home with no small dogs. She is currently in a home with 2 small dogs and is good with one and growls at the other, so a meet-n-greet where she meets a family with dogs will be important.  She is current on vaccines, is heartworm negative and on preventatives and is taking krill oil for hip mobility.  She is not on any medication yet, but the vet recommended the supplement as a preventative as she ages.

Her surrendering owner had active teenagers and she has been around small children with no problem.

Autumn is a sweet girl looking for her forever home and is in the Houston area if you are looking to adopt a sweet middle aged girl.

More about this rescue

WEIMARANER RESCUE of North Texas, Inc. is an all-volunteer 501-C-3, non-profit, charitable organization.

Since 1989, our small group of volunteers has saved over 1,600 Weimaraners from suffering and death. We exist solely on donations and fund raising efforts. Every penny of our proceeds pay for veterinary care, food, boarding and essential expenses. WRNT began as the Rescue Committee of the Lone Star Weimaraner Club, Inc. (formerly North Texas Weimaraner Club). In 1997 WRNT incorporated and was granted 501-C-3 status by the I.R.S., enabling tax deductible donations to our rescue fund.

OUR MISSION is the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of Weimaraners from animal shelters, found stray, abandoned, neglected and abused. We educate the public on responsible pet ownership, and promote spay/neuter. We are dedicated to end the tragedy of pet over-population by opposing puppy mills, pet stores selling live animals, and irresponsible over-breeding of companion animals.
