My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bawa is a beautiful, loyal 8-year-old male Basenji who loves to go on walks, chill out on the couch beside you, and munch on the occasional cheese treat. If you are not familiar with Basnejis, they are African hunting dogs, very independent and aloof, curious and affectionate, and do not bark because of the way their larynx is structured. He acts more like a cat than a dog, choosing to show affection at his whim.

Bawa is loving with those in the home, but takes a while to warm up to strangers–both human and canine–but once he has caught on to your vibe and feels safe, he is a cuddle bear. As a puppy, he was very energetic and was the friendliest of dogs at the park. Since a few unfriendly incidents with other dogs and less interaction because of the COVID shutdown, he has become more reserved and does not always get along with other dogs at the park, especially while on leash. That said, he can get along with other dogs with our other dog, a Shiba Inu puppy for about 2 years.
