Laika is a two-year-old Mini Aussie who was found as a stray around Thanksgiving. Her finders cared for her for some time before bringing her to our facility, where she was held during a stray hold in hopes her family would come forward. Unfortunately, no one did, so Laika is now ready to find a new forever home. When Laika first arrived, she was understandably timid and confused—busy, noisy shelters can be overwhelming for any dog. With patience and kindness, she quickly warmed up to staff and volunteers and now loves spending time with us, especially in the front office. She does well with other dogs and enjoys their company. Laika is a herding breed, and potential adopters should be prepared to meet her needs. Mini Aussies require plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation to thrive—they are not couch potato pets and do best in homes that can provide structure, enrichment, and lots of attention. With the right family, Laika will be a loyal, intelligent, and loving companion. Her adoption fee is $200, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and spay. She is already fixed!
