My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cupcake is a 7-pound, 1 ½-year-old Terrier mix who had a rough start to life: She was found roaming the streets in the Rio Grande Valley. In spite of that, she is a sweet girl with no aggression in her. Cupcake enjoys affection but is not needy. She’s happy just to be near you.

Cupcake lives in a foster home with 6 other dogs and 4 cats, and she gets along with everybody. Her very favorite dog is an 80-pound senior Lab, and she enjoys playing with him. She also loves toys—running after them, shaking them, but not so much destroying them.

As an older puppy, Cupcake has her manners down. She doesn’t chew anything except toys. You can leave her alone in the house and come back to find it undisturbed. She is potty-pad trained and partly housetrained, although you should expect to have to do some work with her in a new home. She is not food aggressive and she rarely barks—only when she senses danger to the home (read: the Amazon guy). She rides well in a car.

Cupcake is very shy at first, and it will take her a couple days to warm up to new adopters, but it’s well worth it to watch her come out of her shell. She would do equally well in a house or an apartment, with a family, couple or single. She would prefer a home with another dog.

Cupcake’s adoption fee is $275 and includes spay, all shots & microchip.

Note:
We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.

Go meet their pets

During Covid, we got used to doing our adoptions online, and that's how we still operate. However, we occasionally do adoption events at Hollywood Feed in Flower Mound and at PetSmart in Roanoke.

More about this rescue

We’re a new group (as of January 2019) composed of experienced dog rescuers. We are all-volunteer and 100% foster-based—no shelters or facilities to crush the spirits of our dogs. We have applied for 501c3 status as a non-profit corporation.

We are an oddball assortment of misfits who all happen to love dogs. We pull our dogs from shelters, we find them on the streets, we take them from homes that can no longer care for them, and we find them permanent, loving homes. We are not breed specific--we love them all!

We're headquartered in Lewisville/Flower Mound, but our members are far-flung through North Dallas and into Fort Worth.
