Meet WAFFLES, (aka Waffy-WooWoo by her foster) a sweet and loving older Shepherd mix who has captured the hearts of everyone she meets. Waffles is a well-behaved pup who is crate and house trained, and knows her commands. She loves to observe the world from the comfort of her dog bed. Waffles is a smart girl who would love a home where she can connect and bond with her human. She is a loyal and loving pup who will always be by your side. Waffles, while good with people and most other dogs while at home, she is what's called leash-reactive, which means she does NOT do well with people, animals, cars, you name it - while out and about and on walks around the neighborhood. Anything fast-moving. (She does love car rides, though!) For this reason, she needs a fenced in yard and would enjoy being more of a homebody where she won't get anxious while on a leash. (the fenced in yard just to block out the outside world more than contain her, because believe it our not, Waffles can jump a 7' fenced! So even with the fence, she'll need to be put out on a tie-out) Being reactive to fast, unpredictable things, younger kids would be a no for her too, just to be safe. (Waffles comes with a sponsored adoption fee of only $100 for the right adopter!)
🤪Waffles is a little shy when meeting new people or dogs, so her new family will need to be patient with her as she adjusts. However, once she gets to know you, her tail never stops wagging and she is all about belly rubs and playtime. Waffles is an active girl who loves to run and play outside, but also enjoys sunbathing and stretching out on a grassy area after her daily workout. She seems good with other relatively calm dogs. She's protective of her home and is best crated as guests are arriving to make a smoother transition - we can talk to you more about that as it's easily manageable.
👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue.

✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available.
📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience.
🗺ADOPTION AREA: Several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3hrs IS allowed), except the young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination in order to cross the border- usually around 16 weeks).

We are an all-volunteer, foster-based dog rescue serving a 3-hour radius around Rochester, NY. Started in 2015, we find loving homes for approximately 500 dogs (and a handful of cats) each year. We serve the local population, taking as many local surrenders as we are able to, and also work with other partner shelters to pull dogs who are on a euthanasia list because of overcrowding. As a licensed rescue, we receive no govenment or municpal funding or grants, and rely soly on adoption fees and other donations to operate.
