We adopted Hank at an event back in October thinking he would be a perfect addition to our family. I had an 8 year old and a 4 year old - the 8 year old fell in love so it was tough to say no.
My wife and I had a small dog earlier in life before having kids - and Hank was the complete opposite. We adopted him at 4 years old, he was really well trained - and sleeps more than half the day.
But with our schedules and especially our house setup it just isn’t working for us. He’s as big as our younger son, and so our son has not adapted well. The dog wants to play and cuddle, and when he’s the size of the child it’s intimidating- even though we know he’s just trying to be sweet.
He’s wonderful with going to the bathroom - he sits by our backyard door when he wants to go out. He sleeps the whole night on a bed in our room.
So I think for a family with the time and love to really spend with him, Hank will be a perfect companion.
