MacGowan came to us a little unsure of the world, but with patience and kindness, he has started writing his new chapter. He is a 6 month old, male, mixed breed looking for his happy ending. He has made remarkable progress in a short time, from cautiously observing life from the sidelines to bravely stepping forward and engaging. He's sensitive and will benefit from gentle guidance, consistency, and encouragement. He is looking for a dog savvy family that understands the value of slow introductions and positive reinforcement. A home with another confident, friendly dog that can show him the ropes would be idea. He learns best by example and takes comfort in canine companionship.
Because he is still building his confidence, a household with children over 15 is recommended so he can continue progressing at his own pace.
MacGowan may not arrive with bells and whistles, but give him time and he’ll surprise you. He’s proof that even a rocky start can lead to something truly special. HOW TO GO ABOUT ADOPTING:
1. Come in during adoption hours to apply and fill out an application completely. We have applications on site. Open adoption hours take place at 44 Worthington Road in Cranston, RI. We are open every Wednesday 3-7pm and Saturday 10am-2pm.
2. We require proof of homeownership (tax form, deed, mortgage statement) or landlord approval (a copy of your lease that clearly states you are allowed to have a dog, puppy, cat, or kitten OR written and signed consent from your landlord.
3. We require copies of up to date vet records for any current pets.
Helpful reminders:
*We do not do same day adoptions.
*Please bring the entire family in to meet the animal you are interested in.
*We will setup a meet and greet with your dog at a later date. PLEASE do not bring your dog with you when you come in to apply.

Unfortunately, due to past issues with landlords/housing/insurance, a restricted breed policy is in place for Bully breed/Pit Bull type dogs. This means that you must own your home and provide proof of homeownership to adopt a Bully breed/Pit Bull dog or puppy. While we understand that this may be an inconvenience, it is necessary to help reduce the number of devastated dogs being returned. We apologize for the inconvenience.
