My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bear:
He was found abandoned by his mommy. Bottle fed for 2 weeks. He was a slow grower but has blossomed. Bear has been raised around a small dog and older cats. Our dog and Bear do some serious play time together. Not so much my older cat.

Bear is an overload of energy wanting to sprint around the house running into his pop-up house and through his cat tunnel and up his cat tree. He plays endlessly with his stuffed animal toys and his crinkle lizard. He has yet to figure out why his lizard doesn't jump out of the water bowl when he puts him in it after their play session. His curiosity is watching TV, watching you do laundry, cook, help with the groceries, watch the ceiling fan and try to determine how he can reach it or find my feet and think they are a toy (He loves fluffy slippers).

Bear was not raised around children and when my granddaughters come, he is not really into them or being held by them.
With that being said if he is adopted into a house with a child, they should be older and understand that it will take time for Bear to adjust as he is a kitten. Bear is seriously into playing rather than being held. When Playtime is over, he will snuggle onto any of the fluffy blankets available to him and if you are there, he will snuggle up close.

Bear has learned to give you a "High 5" when you say to him 'Gimme 5".
He has started to learn to tolerate brushing, but it is slow going and having his nails clipped (that usually has to be at naptime)
He definitely knows the word "NO" and understands what the finger pointed at him means as he should since he is still learning.

He was also raised going into a large kitty condo at night. The reason for this is that it was for his protection when he was young with the older cats but also because I did not have a designated room that was kitten proof. He is extremely active when not sleeping.

Bear is still developing his personality but definitely needs a buddy to play with whether it is a small dog used to cats or another cat. I say this unless you want to be his play toy.

Bear will give the right person or family endless laughter with his shenanigans in watching him play and endless snuggles.

More about this rescue

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit cat rescue group. We rescue abandoned cats & kittens from the streets and high kill city animal shelters in Orange, Los Angeles, Imperial and San Diego counties.
We also help people who need to rehome their pets through our Community Foster Program in that we post the cats on our internet sites and accept applications for them. We also help the owner screen applicants and bring their cats to our adoption events but we cannot physically take them since we are foster based. We do not have a physical shelter, we foster in our homes, not in cages which is a more natural environment for cats.
Lastly, we help reduce the number of unwanted kittens with TNR (Trap-Neuter/spay-Release) by loaning traps and instructing others on how to TNR and by referring people to low-cost S/N clinics.
