REDUCED ADOPTION FEE OF $50! .Boots is a handsome black-and-white tuxedo boy with a gentle, sensitive nature. He can be timid and hard to “catch” for pets or to pick up, but he is a courageous fellow who is becoming more comfortable every day. The progress he’s made has been wonderful to see. Underneath that cautious exterior is a very sweet, affectionate cat who truly enjoys being close to his people.
If you sit and wait, he’ll come to you, asking for the pets and neck scratches he loves. He also enjoys being held (once he’s comfortable enough to let you pick him up) and will purr the whole time — until he’s had enough and makes his escape. Recently, he started jumping up on the couch to lay beside you and ask for all the loving pets and scratches he can get, purring steadily. He’s now comfortable enough to curl up next to you and fall asleep, completely content. This is big progress for such a timid boy, and he just keeps getting more confident.
Boots isn’t all just pets and purrs! He has a playful side, too — like the perfect boy he is! He loves chasing a wand toy and happily batting around a stuffed mouse on his own. When he plays, he chirps and chortles in the cutest way, clearly enjoying himself. He’s a bit of a talker, too, especially when he hasn’t seen you in a while. He has a tiny little meow that is sometimes just a whisper (a whisper meow!), and it’s the sweetest.
Boots is FIV-positive, which means he has a compromised immune system. He doesn’t currently need any special daily care, but if he ever becomes sick, he should see a vet promptly so minor issues don’t turn into bigger ones. FIV-positive cats can live long, healthy lives, especially in a stable indoor home. They can also live with other cats as long as they are spayed/neutered and do not viciously fight to cause deep bite wounds. And Boots really has enjoyed all the other cats he has met in his foster home.
He would thrive in a calm, patient household that understands sensitive cats and gives him time to build trust. We believe he would also enjoy the companionship of a friendly, confident feline buddy. With the right family, Boots will continue to grow in confidence and reward his people with steady purrs, cozy naps, whisper meows, and quiet devotion.
He is waiting to meet you in his foster home, because the noisy adoption events stress him out so apply to adopt to schedule a meet and greet. All cats are spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative.
All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.
Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
