My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kate is an older, confident, wonderfully opinionated cat who knows exactly how she wants to live her life — and she has a lot of love to give the right people.

Kate recently returned to the shelter because her adopters realized she may thrive best in a home with more activity and attention than a very quiet household can offer. While she enjoys calm moments, Kate truly shines when she has people around to interact with, talk to, and be involved in their daily routines.

Kate is extremely people-oriented and affectionate in her own gentle way. She loves sitting on laps, hanging out near her humans, and being part of whatever is going on — whether that’s watching TV, moving around the house, or chatting back and forth. She bonds strongly to her people and does best when she isn’t left to entertain herself for long periods.

She is famously very vocal and proud of it. Kate will greet you, comment on meals, announce her presence, and keep you company with a running commentary throughout the day. If you enjoy a chatty cat who wants engagement and interaction, Kate will happily be your conversational partner.

Kate has lived with both large and small breed dogs and coexisted well with dogs who respect feline boundaries. She is not interested in being best friends with other animals but can calmly share space when introductions are done thoughtfully. With other cats, Kate is tolerant but would prefer to be the only feline in the home.

She was raised around children and has never intentionally scratched anyone. Kate does well with respectful kids and may enjoy a household where there is consistent human presence and interaction.

While she was previously indoor/outdoor, due to her age Kate would do best as an indoor-only cat. She does not attempt to dart out doors and is content living safely indoors.

As an added bonus, Kate is an excellent mouser and takes her pest-control duties very seriously.

Kate is sweet, talkative, affectionate, and deeply people-focused. She’s looking for a home that can offer her plenty of attention, engagement, and love — ideally one where she can be a central part of daily life and soak up all the affection she deserves. 🖤
