Here's what the humans have to say about me:
ABOUT KILO
Kilo is a 7-year-old golden boy looking for a fresh start. This sweet boy came to us from unimaginable circumstances after being rescued from a neglect situation, where he lived with 18 other dogs. Understandably, this has left Kilo with some trauma but he doesn't hold it against us!
Upon arrival Kilo's stomach was severely swollen, while his legs had some scrapes and scabs. We also observed that Kilo had no reaction to sounds or movement by his ears, indicating he is deaf. During an ultrasound, a large mass-like shape was spotted in his stomach. With further exploration, we discovered this was not a tumor but rather a severe parasitic infestation. While this is dangerous, it was thankfully treatable and Kilo is now thriving! Kilo is truly a resilient, loving, and laid-back companion. He loves long naps, afternoon strolls, and neck scratches. Kilo recently had a day out of the shelter with one of our staff members. Here's what they had to say about him:
"I had the wonderful Kilo for a relaxing day out. I picked him up in the morning and we went on went on a walk, Kilo constantly checked in with me during our stroll and was very gentle on leash. Once I got home Kilo was quick to make friends with my 7 year old pittie. The 3 us of spent most of the morning napping together on the couch watching movies. Kilo was very friendly with my dog and I, .no problems sharing couch space and even toys. Despite his hearing disability, he is incredibly smart. Overall it was great having Kilo. He is a very happy dog and very low maintenance. He hasn't been dealt very good cards so far in life but it seems he has a lot of love to give and would be extremely satisfied curled up next to anyone willing to give him attention and I hope he gets adopted soon." - Zach
If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.
