My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Mr. Pablo!

Mr. Pablo is a cheerful, confident boy with a bright smile and a personality that truly shines. From the moment you meet him, it’s clear he loves being involved and soaking up all the attention he can get. His expressive face and perky ears make him especially hard to forget.

Pablo is friendly, outgoing, and genuinely enjoys connecting with people. He carries himself with a playful confidence and likes to stay busy—whether that’s going for walks, enjoying playtime, or simply hanging out by your side. He brings happy energy wherever he goes without being too much.

Mr. Pablo would thrive in a home that’s looking for an active, social companion and values a dog who is both affectionate and fun-loving. His joyful spirit and loving nature make him a wonderful match for the right family.

If you’re searching for a dog full of charm, confidence, and heart, Mr. Pablo could be the perfect fit.

More about this shelter

We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
