My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cookie - the shy little sweetheart who's been through a lot, learned to be cautious...and is quietly hoping someone patient will choose her anyway.

Cookie is a gorgeous calico "scaredy cat" who needs time, gentleness and understanding to feel safe. She isn't the cat who warms up overnight. She won't rush into your lap on day one. But if you're willing to move slowly, speak softly and let her bloom at her own pace, you'll discover a deeply sweet girl who wants to trust and is trying her very best.

Her perfect home is calm, predictable, and filled with kindness. Someone who celebrates tiny victories - the first curious head peek from behind a hiding spot, the first brave step toward a treat, the first purr you weren't sure you'd ever hear. Those moments will mean everything with Cookie, because she will have chosen you.

If your heart has room for a cat who needs patience, compassion, and time, Cookie is ready to finally feel safe, loved and home.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1941 by the third female graduate from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, SAVE is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit animal shelter dedicated to protecting the health and welfare of homeless companion animals in the greater Princeton area and beyond. Through six core programs of Rescue, Shelter, Health and Welfare, Spay/Neuter, Foster and Adoption.

The SAVE shelter facility has the capacity to house upwards of 100 animals at a time (approximately 75 cats and 25 dogs). The shelter exceeds no-kill benchmark standards and ensures that adoptable animals facing adversity are given a lifeline, a chance to flourish, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
