My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I'm Big Boy! My days are filled with gentle tail wags and warm nuzzles for anyone who stops by. I love sharing my calm, friendly spirit with everyone I meet. Whether we're lounging quietly or enjoying a leisurely stroll, I'm happy just to be in good company. I dream of a forever home where I can share all my love and companionship. If you're looking for a serene and devoted friend, I'm just the companion you need. Let's make wonderful memories together!

Additional adoption info

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-serve basis, pending adopter information.
All puppies/dogs, kittens/cats must be vaccinated against rabies and sterilized by the new owner if not already done.
To take home a pet:
First, come see the animal to make sure they bond with you and that you bond with them.
Next, prepay at the vet clinic of your choice to have them neutered/spayed and rabies vaccination done when old enough. Bring that receipt to us. If your vet will not allow you to prepay, you may bring a letter of recommendation from a vet you use.

More about this shelter

We are the Glen Rose Animal Control. We serve the City of Glen Rose and Somervell County residents. No animals outside of the county may be taken in at this facility. We do charge an impoundment fee. There is one ACO who runs the facility Monday - Friday 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.
We enjoy helping animals and want to see them all get homes. We know that is not possible in all cases, but we do our best to work with rescues and network our animals to place them in forever homes. We have a small kennel area, so we fill up fast.
