My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elora / Female / 3 months / approx 21 lbs / Mixed Breed (will likely be large fully grown) / Good with Dogs / Untested with Kids & Cats / Local Surrender/ Fostered in Toronto

Meet sweet Elora! Elora is a cuddly, silly, playful, and smart young pup who absolutely loves being close to her people. She’s a big snuggle bug and enjoys walks, light play, and cozy downtime with her favourite toys. One of her cutest habits is bringing her toys over to share and curling up across your chest or near your neck for nap time.

She has a moderate energy level and enjoys a nice balance of activity and relaxation. Elora is doing well on leash, enjoying time to stop and sniff along the way, and she continues to build confidence in busier or noisier environments. Loud outdoor noises can sometimes startle her, but with reassurance she recovers quickly.

Elora has been socializing well with other dogs and generally enjoys meeting them, especially when introductions are calm and gradual. In new or overwhelming settings, she may need a little extra space at first, but once comfortable she’s happy to engage and play.

At home, Elora has lovely house manners. She sleeps soundly through the night in her own bed (and happily joins her foster for morning cuddles), and when left alone she typically settles with a toy or rests while waiting. She is continuing to work on outdoor potty training and being fully comfortable when alone, and she’s making steady progress with consistency and routine.

Elora would be a great fit for a family looking for a loving, affectionate, and thoughtful companion who will continue to blossom with gentle guidance. A calm, supportive home that understands puppies are still learning will help Elora shine, and whoever adopts her will be very lucky.

ABOUT YOU!
Puppies are a lot of work. At just 3 months old, we are looking for families who have FLEXIBLE work schedules and the time and energy to invest in socialization and training. Yes, Elora is tiny and oh-so-cute, but we can pretty much guarantee that she will:
-Pee and poop on your floor
-Chew your furniture
-Eat your designer handbag
-Ruin your leisurely Sunday morning sleep-in

As a condition of the adoption contract, their new families will be required to:
-Ensure they have an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full-time, this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit.
-Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required).
-Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this stage.
-Spay/neuter them within 6 months of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of spay/neuter is required to finalize the adoption.

Additional adoption info

To adopt one of our dogs, please fill out an application at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form. Although we do our best to reply to all inquiries within 72 hours, please remember we are a volunteer-run organization. We appreciate your patience.

If we think your application has potential to be a good fit, a Fetch + Releash volunteer will contact you to set up a time to speak over the phone and conduct the home visit. In addition to the phone interview and home visit, we also require personal, veterinarian, and landlord reference if applicable.

After the phone interview, home visit & reference check, you will then be granted a private meet and greet with the dog.

After the meet and greet, the adoption committee will then review your completed application and make a final decision.

More about this rescue

Established in 2016, Fetch + Releash is a volunteer run dog rescue dedicated to saving dogs in need. Our foster dogs come from a variety of different backgrounds such as shelters, strays and surrendered pets, both locally and abroad. Through our network of volunteers, foster homes, trainers and veterinarians, we strive to give every dog the loving forever family they deserve. As a foster-based rescue, our dogs live in private homes across the Greater Toronto Area where they receive the love and attention they need to ready them for adoption.

A dog is a lifetime commitment and not to be discarded due to health, lifestyle change or inconvenience. Some of the top reasons dogs end up in shelters are lack of training, lifestyle changes (i.e. new baby, marriage), relocation, cost of dog ownership, not enough time for pet etc. Our goal is to ensure our adoptive families are well versed in the realities of dog ownership and ready to make a lifetime commitment.
