My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Moses is a 7 week old, male great Pyr mix who has quite a story...

A shelter staff member from a KY Regional Animal Shelter called to say she was picking up a puppy that was abandoned in a box at a local tractor supply! When she arrived on scene, she found a very sweet, lovable puffball that was all alone, abandoned in a box. She immediately called a GRRAND volunteer and GRRAND kicked into action. A lovely GRRAND volunteer and foster transported him and agreed to foster.
One of GRRAND’s original founding members and long time board member wanted to call him Moses, since Moses was put in a basket and sent down river, his story sung striking similarities.

Moses will be needing a secure fenced in yard, as Great Pyrs like to roam and patrol, and they do this best in a safe and secure space.

If you are interested in Moses, please note the GRRAND puppy guidelines:

**** Puppies are a lot of work, and if you are interested in one of these puppies and have children, you should check out GRRAND policies page before you read further… In a nutshell, GRRAND policies stipulate a few important things that may stop you from applying

A: GRRAND will NOT place a puppy under the age of 6 months with families with children under 6 yrs old

B: Any applicant with children under the age of 16, will require a home with direct access to a securely fenced yard… so this means no apartments or condos

Apartments and condos can also be tricky for adult only households, as puppies can be whiny and loud, and may make too much noise for the neighbors as well

If you feel you are good to move forward and read more about these little ones... here you go:

As with all puppies, Moses will need a home where someone is home most of the time as he will need to be fed regularly, and let to go outside consistently and constantly ALL DAY LONG so potty training can be a breeze. He will be looking for a home with a fenced in yard and families with LOTS of time and patience to socialize and work with a puppy so they can grow up to be good dogs! Exercise and direction are a must for these little ones as a tired puppy is a good puppy!! They have boundless amounts of playful energy and need a constant outlet for it! They just eat, pee, poop, play and repeat ALL DAY!!! It is a lot of fun, but it is a lot of work, and if you don't have time for all of that, a small puppy may not be for you!

Along with that wonderful puppy breath, comes those razor sharp puppy teeth too, so families must understand there needs to be constant supervision as  children need to learn to respect an animal and puppies need to learn boundaries.

More about this rescue

Early in 1994, members of the Greater Louisville Golden Retriever Club began to see the need for an organization to rehabilitate and find homes for displaced and abused Golden Retrievers. A number of folks in this club began organizing an ad hoc rescue group. As the number of rescues increased over a period of months, this “wet behind the ears” group came up with a name and in 1996, incorporated the organization now known as Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND). The rest, as they say, is history!
