My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am Sam...Sam I am...I've never had green eggs and ham...But that could change if you adopt me!

Hi everyone, my name is Sammy and I am on the hunt for a family to call my own. I was born around 10/17.  I am not sure what breed I am, but what I am sure of is that I am very pretty!  I mean, just take a look at my face--this eyeliner is all natural!  My foster mom says I will grow to be a small to medium-sized dog. I come with quite the origin story, so let me get you all caught up before I tell you all of the reasons why I am so amazing.

I was separated from my mom as a young puppy and I had to navigate the world by myself for a while.  Being so little, I didn't know very much about how to survive on my own. But what I did know is that I that I needed to find a new mom. So off I went, searching high and low, until one lucky day, I found her. Gracie was a stray dog just like me, and we bonded instantly. I decided to promote her to a very coveted, very special position: "Sammy's Mom". Together, we managed to travel all the way to Illinois in search of a forever home.

As much as I loved my Gracie, she got adopted recently and we were separated. So now I am back to square one--eagerly searching for my new mom (or dad...or both!) I've done it before and I will do it again!

You would love to be my guardian because:

The fur around my mouth and face makes me look like I am wearing a mask, but I am the opposite of a bandit! I am a very good girl.

I am a great listener and I will follow your rules. You won't have any problems training me, I want to learn and do as you say!

I have a good sense of right and wrong. If I know I did something bad, I can correct myself.

I am very respectful to other animals. I have lots of energy since I am still a puppy, but I will act differently based on my environment. For example, if you have older dogs, I will be very polite in how I play and interact with them. If they don't want to play with me, I can have just as much fun playing on my own!

I get along with cats as well. You know how people say "cats are liquid"? Well, they should start saying that about me, because I sure can fit into any environment!

I am very social and adventurous. I like meeting new people and animals, and I am not afraid to try new things and activities. Hiking buddy? Jogging buddy? Travel buddy? Snuggle on couch & watch TV buddy? I can do it all!

Go meet their pets

We are not a shelter. We are a group of pet lovers and advocates who are committed to targeted rescue. Starfish Animal Rescue is a licensed rescue that is run by an all volunteer staff.
Once we rescue a dog or cat, it is placed in one of our foster homes until we are able to find it a suitable home. We are happy to set up an appointment to meet our pets once we receive and review your completed application.

We do our best to process applications quickly but please understand that we are a foster based rescue and that our volunteers work jobs; many are full time. Sending in a completed application is the best way to facilitate this process. You can go on our website www.starfishanimalrescue.com and download an application
Once your application is reviewed, we will put you in contact with the dog's foster family to set up a time to meet the pet of your choice!
Thank you for supporting our rescue and what we are trying to accomplish in southeastern Kentucky.
