If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
We adopted Pierce 5 years ago from Boulder Humane Society when he was 1 year old. He came from a reservation in New Mexico, where we think he experienced abuse. He has thrived in our home until recently, when our baby began walking.
Pierce gets along great with our other male dog, so we believe he is generally good with other dogs. But, due to his skittish nature and anxiety, we recommend a meet greet before any adoption.
He is a intelligent &obedient dog: fully house-trained, responds to command, and loves playing fetch. Ball play and running are his passions, he a high-energy dog who needs plenty of exercise &stimulation.
Unfortunately, Pierce does not do well with young children. Toddlers and little kids trigger his anxiety significantly. Our now 14-month-old has become very mobile, and out of concern that Pierce might react fearfully (possibly with a bite), weve made the difficult decision to rehome him.The ideal new home would be with an adult-only household (no kids).
