My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

2 years old | Cattle Dog mix | 30 lbs

Debbie is a true survivor with a joyful spirit and a heart full of love. This smart, friendly, and outgoing girl is curious about the world and eager to be part of a family who will cheer her on.

Debbie was rescued after being found as a stray, dragging her back legs and unable to walk. She needed a wheelchair just to get around—but once in rescue, Debbie absolutely thrived. With physical therapy, patience, and determination, she regained strength in her back legs and is now walking without assistance. While she has a slightly wobbly gait, it doesn’t slow her down—Debbie can walk, run, jump, and keep up with daily walks just fine!

We don’t know exactly what caused her initial paralysis, but Debbie is otherwise healthy and gets around independently. She may occasionally need a little help getting started if she moves too quickly, and she’ll do best in a home that’s patient, understanding, and willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Debbie eats and drinks completely on her own and is very independent around the house. She only uses her wheels when she goes outside to potty, which helps keep her on track and safely navigate obstacles. Her adoption includes her wheelchair, so she’ll go home with everything she needs to succeed.

Debbie adores people of all ages, including kids, and would love to be the queen of her castle as the one and only pet. She’s friendly with other dogs but prefers having her own space and spotlight.

As always, we encourage a trial run before adoption, so you’ll have the opportunity to make sure Debbie is the perfect fit for your home and lifestyle.

If you’re looking for a resilient, loving companion who has overcome the odds and still greets each day with enthusiasm, Debbie may be your girl.
