Meet Oni: A Sweet Little Senior Looking for a Forever Home!
Sweet and gentle 8 year old, 22lb Oni was brought into North Central Animal Shelter in Los Angeles as a stray in November of 2025. Our team at Dog Coalition LA fell in love with him and we were able to place him into a foster home not long after in December.
Oni has spent his first few weeks in foster care decompressing from the stress of the shelter and getting over a bad cough. We’re so happy to be able to help him heal in the warmth and safety of a home rather than a cold kennel. Now that he is feeling better, we’re seeing his personality emerge into the sweet and gentle little man we knew him to be. He is quiet, house and crate trained, easy-going, and friendly to dogs and humans alike.
We believe Oni would be happy in a home with other gentle dogs or as a solo dog. He is cute and flirty around his doggie friends and also happy to chill and curl up on a dog bed or human’s lap. He’s a low energy older fella who will thrive in a quiet, relaxed, and predictable environment. He would enjoy a little stroll or frolic in the yard for some enrichment between chill-time. He likes car rides and would make a great little side kick for running errands or hanging at a coffee shop.
What You Should Know About Oni:
-sweet and small senior looking for a calm forever home to love and nurture him
-friendly with dogs and people, easy-going and low-energy
-might be nice for someone looking for a little buddy or friend for another gentle pup

More about this rescue
We are a group of volunteers and rescuers combining our skills to help fosters get a dog out of the shelter! The dogs in our program have begun house, crate, and leash training. Our fosters follow a handful of house rules. The transition to a new home is easiest for your dog when these structures are carried over for some time and privileges are gradually introduced. This helps minimize anxiety and behavioral issues.
