My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jake—yep, like Jake from State Farm—says it’s nice to meet you. He’s a three-month-old cavapoo… or maybe a doodle? Honestly, there’s a doodle or “poo” for everything these days.
He’s cute as heck, but we really wish more of these little pups didn’t end up in rescue because of irresponsible breeding. That’s a story for another day. Today, though, we just want to find a loving home for a tiny munchkin like him—someone who’s ready to give him all the love he deserves.

He’s been romping around for a solid three and a half months and has really made a name for himself. He loves a good snuggle—like, really loves it. He’ll plop into your lap and somehow double in weight while he’s asleep. No lap available? No problem. He’ll wedge himself behind you, between you and the couch. Comfy for you? Probably not. But him? Totally pleased with himself. No other option? He will remind himself that he is easy to please. Dog bed, blanket, towel, or just the straight-up floor? Doesn’t matter. He’ll make it work.

He’s working on crate training and doing really well! He has already made brought down his time span to a solid 8-10 minutes of small whines before crashing for the night. Left in his crate while you’re out? He barely even cares—no one’s there to give in, so he’s saving his energy. Potty training? That’s your job. He’s a little guy with a tiny bladder, and he’ll make sure you don’t slack—go outside when he needs to, or he’ll remind you.

Jake is on the hunt for his forever home—ideally ASAP, not because we want to move him, but because he says he needs more attention and the founder's home isn't cutting it. After his neuter on the 6th, he’s officially a big boy and ready to roll. Could you be his person? He says, “Put in your application so I can review it and find the home I’ve been dreaming of!”

He’s being fostered in Chicago but is available anywhere within 3 hours. Jake is neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, dewormed, and microchipped—basically, ready to charm his way into your heart.

Additional adoption info

Every dog is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a forever-home match. We are careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right dog with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet’s permanent home. These steps ensure that we have all the information needed to make the best placement for you or your family.

More about this rescue

At Chicago Rescue Authority, our mission is to create a compassionate world where every animal is treated with love, respect, and dignity. We are dedicated to educating the public about the adverse realities of the mass-production industry for puppies, raising awareness about responsible pet adoption and ownership, and actively working towards reducing the overpopulation of dogs in shelters.

Our promise to Chicago is to build our rescue on the tenets of teamwork, education and compassion. We will listen to the concerns and ideas of those around us and be ready to grow alongside this rescue and this mission.

Volunteers, fosters, donors and adopters will be the backbone of this organization, just like every other animal welfare non-profit. We will be hosting a variety of fundraisers and mixers throughout the year aimed at building our support network. We can’t wait to meet all the animals whose lives we are going to change!
