My son and his wife rescued him and had him for 4 years. I took him in on temporary basis, but circumstances changed and he has been with me for 5 years. I can no longer take care of him.
Positive qualities:
* Loyal and affectionate.
* Best in familiar surroundings. Has been going to same boarding facility for 8–9 years and gets along with other dogs while boarded.
Some challenges:
* Great guard dog, but can take a long time to settle down when I have visitors.
* Not aggressive but can be anxious, fearful, and protective. Has lunged at men and teenagers when they got too close.
Triggers:
* Lunges or barks at some dogs, and at anyone (including kids) on a scooter or skateboard.
* Fireworks are particularly distressing for him, causing anxiety.
Ideal home for Django:
* Would thrive in household without children, preferably on ranch or home with a large, fenced yard or with someone who can take him on regular walks. Best to avoid exposure to children, aggressive dogs, and strangers,
